Born in Tehran, Sepideh Farsi (she/her) moved to Paris to study mathematics but soon drifted towards cinema. Her documentary Homi Sethna, Filmmaker won several awards; her follow-ups Harat and Tehran Without Permission both premiered at Locarno. Her first two features, Dreams of Dust and The Gaze, premiered at Rotterdam Film Festival. She directed The House Under The Water, which won the Fipresci Prize at Moscow IFF; Red Rose, which premiered at TIFF in 2014; Despo, Labros, Spyridoula & Papandreou; and 7 Veils, which won the Grand Prix of the French Competition at FID Marseille (2017). Her latest film, the animated feature The Siren, was the opening film of Berlinale's Panorama section and has won dozens of awards, including the Asia Pacific Screen Award for Best Animation. Her latest documentary, Put Your Soul on Your Hands and Walk, explores the abyss of the war in Gaza.
