Zhanana Kurmasheva (she/her) is a Kazakh documentary filmmaker whose work is rooted in observational storytelling and the relationship between people, place, and environmental memory. Her debut feature, We Live Here (2025), follows a family living near the former Semipalatinsk nuclear test site and reflects her interest in intimate stories shaped by larger historical and ecological forces.
