Karla Murthy (she/her) is an award-winning filmmaker whose work has been described by the Columbia Journalism Review as “compelling, informative, and compassionate.” After a career in journalism, she made her feature directorial debut with The Place That Makes Us (America ReFramed, 2021), followed by the short film Love, Jamie (PBS American Masters, 2023). Her latest film, The Gas Station Attendant, premiered at Sheffield DocFest where it won the Special Mention Jury Award; it will premiere on the PBS series POV.
