Yi Chen (she/her) is a Chinese American documentary filmmaker based in Washington, DC. Her feature debut, First Vote, qualified for the 93rd Academy Awards and was broadcast on PBS stations. Her second feature, Dissidents, premiered internationally at Doc Edge Festival and won Best Documentary Feature at DC Independent Film Festival. It was also selected for Berlinale EFM and IDFA Docs for Sale. Yi has an MFA from American University.
